Menopause & Migraines. Your Questions Answered by Internal Specialist, Dr. Mera

MENOPAUSE & MIGRAINES

Hormone fluctuation (the gradual drop in estrogen levels during perimenopause) can cause headaches. Once menopause is over, the headaches tend to improve, but while you’re in the thick of it, pain meds can help, as might massages, heating pads, and stretching, which can relieve tension. But women with a history of migraines may need Botox injections or prescription medicines.
